I am Jeri, my Chinese Name is 饶家瑞, with pronunciation: ráo jiā ruì. I graduated from Master of Information Systems Management program at Carnegie Mellon University, Heinz College, a prestigious college ranked #1 in Information and Technology Management.
Currently, I am conducting research on AI in Education focus on using Large Language Models to revolutionize learning outcomes, eg. LLM for course recsys, LLM for course generation, under the guidance of Dr.Jionghao Lin in Human-Computer Interaction Institute. I am also a research associate for PLUS -- the online math tutoring platform aiming on bridging Opportunity Gaps In Math Education By Combining Human + AI Tutoring, under the guidance of Prof. Ken Koedinger.
I am also a long-term volunteer AI data integration assistant for The Education Partnership working on using AI tools to enhance the volunteer management in the NGO, I also involve in design of STEAM courses for STEAM HUB.
The transition from pursuing the career as a software engineer to a researcher in AI & Education was ignited by the integration of AI tools, such as ChatGPT, into our coursework. My engagement deepened through my role as a teaching assistant for graduate courses at CMU, encouraging me to explore the impact of AI in education and how AI could benefit education.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Management Science from Beijing Normal University (北京师范大学) in 2022, I minored in English Literature, with Creative Writing, taught by Dr. Adeline Heck, being my favorite course. Here at CMU, my academic journey is enriched by courses in programming, digital business, and data analysis. As a socially conscious individual, I am deeply fascinated by the potential synergy between information technology and critical sectors like education, digital economy, public policy, and healthcare.
I am pursuing 2025 Fall doctoral degree opportunities in computer science, information science and learning science, with focus on how AI could enhance education by designing educational technology tools and systems. With a wealth of industry, research and teaching experiences under my belt, coupled with a robust academic foundation and technical proficiency, I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your research team.
My paper Enhancing MOOCs Recommendations Using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) with Large Language Models is accepted by Educational Data Mining 2024 LLM Workshop 2024. See you in Atlanta!
